Laura Roeder here. I want us today to talk about something that I became aware of this morning and I have been trying to make myself more aware of all the time which is silly arbitrary rules that we create for ourselves for no reason that can really hold us back from being successful and doing things that we want to do. So this morning it was about 10:00, I needed some fruit, I felt like having a meal and I thought you what I want like a lunch meal, like a sandwich or something. But then I thought no it’s 10:00. I have to eat breakfast. I can’t eat a sandwich. It was like whom do I think is like watching over me deciding, judging if I am eating the right food at the right time. There is no one. I can eat whatever food I want at any time that I want, it’s incredible. So I ate my lunch meal at 10:00, I was happy. It was a good decision. So that’s kind of a silly example but there are so many things that we are not even aware of that we limit our options based on these just totally useless rules that we’ve decided how to be the way things are.
So it can be the type of services that we offer, the way that we package those services, how much we charge for them, what our website looks like, what we call our business, what our business cards look like. there are so many things that we think wouldn’t that be kind of cool, I want to do that but no this is how, this is the way that it is done and I think most of the innovative companies and a lot of times successful companies got that way because they were able to forget about the way things are supposed to be and they did things in the way that they wanted to and that would serve their audience or customers instead. So there’s a lot of things that you might be limiting yourself with that are not even entering your awareness at all that’s why this is such a difficult habit to break. So start questioning when you do things like why am I writing this email this way, why am I structuring my business the way that I did. Is that the way that it has to be? Nothing is the way that it has to be. So just some food for thought. Oh no pun intended.

Rules are something humans have created. Each of us can do what we want and when. Outside the box, life is amazing.
