I would love it if you did a video on how to get a self hosted video up on your wordpress blog. As in, not using a service like YouTube but your own flash player.
I have been trying to figure this out for some time now. I know you have to upload a flv file using your FTP program and a wordpress plugin. But where do you put the video on your server and how do you know the URL to point the plugin to? Ahhh!!! Driving me crazy.
Thanks James, but it’s the – “Just simply click one of the new buttons that this plugin adds to the write screen (rich editor included) and then paste the URL that the video is located at into the prompt box” – part that I don’t know how to do. How do I know what the URL is?
Sorry Laura I know this is a bit off topic here. I also own a Flip and love it.
* Marcus – you need to upload the video via FTP, and the address is just whatever folder you uploaded it to. For example if I have a video file called funny.mov and I upload it into the main directory of my site the URL is http://www.lauraroeder.com/funny.mov
It doesn’t matter where the video goes on your server, just that you keep track of it.
* JamesFowlkes – I don’t have a specific recommendation, since the HD models are not that much more expensive you might want to go ahead and spring for HD in case you want to do high-quality video down the road.

it’s pretty cool to find a blog made by someone with similar views. Do you have an RSS feed somewhere?
