Being Useless, Switching to a New System, and Meet my Cat

Posted on February 1, 2010

This week I’m all over the internet – here’s the scoop!

First of all, check out the free report I just released – Why Being an “Expert” is Making You Useless on Twitter

In this report I discuss why I disagree with most of the “common sense” advice about twitter – and what you should be doing instead. Click here to see the five well-meaning mistakes you might be making in your quest for “expert” status.

I’m the featured guest this week for Yaro Starak‘s video podcast series.

In this video interview, I tell the story of how I first became and entrepeneur and how I transitioned from one business to another (while staying profitable). Also if you’ve never seen my cat Koopa she makes quite the cameo!

Lastly, here’s a short interview about my experience switching over to infusionsoft on The Launch Coach blog. There is already quite a controversy brewing in the comments, so check that one out if you’re curious about the pros and cons of different email marketing and e-commerce systems.

Laura, Terrific interview! I am quickly become a fan of your blog with all its high quality content right in line with my interest of starting a blog covering social media and commercial real estate. I found the story of your career path very interesting and inspirational. My career is shifting directions from a commercial real estate (CRE) broker to a blogger of Social Media and CRE and aspiring consultant on the subject.

Great tips: 1) Nurture your small audience with quality content. (You’re still providing HQ content with a large audience. A sign of a true professional) 2) Originality offers differentiation.

Question: Right after mentioning the two items above, you said “blog for your customer’s not the industry” Could you please expand on that idea? It seemed important but I just didn’t get my head around that one.

Thanks in advance to sharing your time & expertise.

    Regards, Jason http://logisticdev.com/

I think I need to read more of your work simply because your cat’s name is Koopa.

That, and you know, the wicked resources.

“Nurture your small audience with quality content” – That’s such a great statement. So many folks underestimate the power of their small audience. A small “engaged” community is so much greater than a large unengaged community. Great interview!

You know…I have to tell you that before I started reading your stuff I thought Twitter was the dumbest thing on the planet. (I say this because of the first item on you list up there.) I can’t believe I’m saying this but I love it now…and I’m well on to realizing something I didn’t know I wanted because of it.

Am I allowed to say you’re BAD ASS, Laura? (I love that!)

Be good. I mean…continue being good.

If you are in the corner and have got no money to go out from that, you will have to take the mortgage loans. Because it would help you for sure. I take commercial loan every year and feel myself great because of it.
