If you’re like me, you would prefer your blog readers to visit your site each day and read your newest posts! The challenge is that there are thousands (if not millions) of other bloggers that would love to earn your readers’ loyalty, too! How can you compete for their attention?
By building reader loyalty!
Below are some best practices I personally employ on my site to help my readers know that I value them and to encourage returning to my site over and over again.
1. Go to other blogs where your readers hang out! Think about it – if you want loyal readers, why not go to them! If you’re not sure what other blogs your readers follow, ask! Whenever someone comments on a post or you receive an email, write back and say, “Do you have any other blogs that you recommend I check out?” Then, start reading those blogs! Make friends with those bloggers and begin commenting on posts. Their readers will see your site in the comment and visit! Also, that blogger may ask you to write a guest post which will also draw in new traffic!
2. Make it a policy to write everyone back who posts a comment. Now, obviously you can’t do this if your blog starts exploding with traffic, but until then, write a comment back to each reader thanking them for writing in their thoughts! An even better strategy is to keep the conversation going by playing off their comment.
3. Do a video thank-you. These days webcams are cheap and easy to use. Make a short video thanking your readers for their loyalty and ask them to tell a friend. There is no shame in honesty and saying, “I’d really like to find more readers just like you, so please tell your friends about this site!” Since they are already your fans, they will go and advocate for you!
If you employ just these three simple strategies, I promise your audience will feel more connected and will return over and over again to your blog.

I believe it is safe to assume that if you are reading this blog, you are an entrepreneur (or an aspiring entrepreneur) who is using the website to sell products and services, promote relationship with your customers and establish your expertise.
But whatever your business is - personal chef, acupuncturist or digital marketer - you know good design alone won’t keep you in business. You also need well-written content to attract your target readers to your site and convert them into clients.
So unless you’re prepared to hire a copy writer who will charge at least 1,000 U.S. dollars to produce a sales page (and that’s just a one time fee), you’ll be ahead of the game if you have strong writing skills. To develop and polish this valuable skill, look into finding a writing coach.
Here are some pointers to help you in looking for a writing coach:
1. Determine what kind of writing project you want to complete.
List just one writing project that you wanted to finish for the longest time but for some reason have not done it. It could be an e-book, a script for a video tutorial, a press release or a series of pillar posts for your blog.
You have to stick to one project as writing coaches have different specialization. A writing coach who usually coaches memoirist and novelist may not be the coach that you want to hire if your priority project is to write a high-converting sales page.
2. Read first, decide later
I’m not talking about testimonials here or even their profile page. But instead, read the creative products of that prospective writing coach. Does he or she have a blog or have they published a novel? Perhaps they have articles in print publications that you can find online. Read them and see if you like his or her writing style.
3. Find out if you and the writing coach share the same “vibe”
Choosing a coach is deeply personal. You won’t like being mentored by someone who you neither respect nor admire.
You and your writing coach will work together to finish an important project. So it’s better to know beforehand if the prospective coach is the right fit for you. Invite the coach for coffee and see if the two of you share the same vibe.
Take note: if you both live in the same place and the coach refused to meet you, drop her from your list of prospects. If she can’t spare an hour to meet a client then it’s doubtful he or she will give you the time and attention you need to critique your work or motivate you to complete your project.
If it’s not possible to meet the coach in person due to proximity, then you can talk over Skype, read and comment on his/her blogs or follow his or her tweets. Bottomline: in today’s work environment, you need not live close to your writing coach. With skype, email, blogs, even Twitter, you can check out their vibe and find a connection.
4. Set parameters and writing goals
Once you chose “the one”, both of you need to set the rules on how the two of you will work. What are the goals that you want to accomplish and how will the coach help you in attaining that goal?
Are you looking for a detailed critique or do you need someone to motivate you because you are insecure about your skills?
You also need to work on a schedule that suits both of you. Do you have to contact her every day or is a monthly update enough? Does she have to be in every step of the project (highly recommended for people who tend to procrastinate)? If you’re quite disciplined, you can just contact her if you need to attain a certain milestone.
You also have to determine the mode of communication. Do you meet up in a café once a week, chat over the webcam, or send e-mails with each other? Choose what is the most convenient for both of you. My coach and I chose to communicate with each other via e-mail because of the huge difference in our time zones (she is in Europe and I live in Asia so skyping isn’t feasible ).
5. Be accountable
Learning something is useless if you don’t act on it. Your coach is there so you can be accountable to someone, gently pushing you to apply what you learned. So let’s say you are writing an e-book with ten chapters, you need to write and finish each chapter, and have each chapter critiqued. After getting a critique, be sure to apply what you learned in rewriting that chapter and writing a new chapter. Then let the coach look at both the revised and new chapters. You will then see if you improved as a writer.
As Laura Roeder teaches, when it comes to getting things done in your business, you have two choices, hire someone or learn how to do them yourself. Finding a writing coach early in your business will help tremendously with your long term growth.

A little bit of this… a little bit of that. Man, it can get so confusing when you are an entrepreneur swimming around in a sea of half-baked dreams, can’t it?
Believe me, I get it, and unfortunately I get it in a really big way.
Swimming through a multitude of different possible, knock-it-out-of-the-park options can be exciting, yes, but really draining as well. For where does it lead you? Usually it leaves you no closer to any one ultimate goal and probably a wee bit frustrated in the meantime.
To feel you are in alignment with your business, health, even relationships, you need to have total clarity about what your goals are. Strongly aligning your online presence to walk hand-in-hand with those goals is a crucial piece of your professional success.
It is time to screech the confusion to a halt and dive in to these key steps. They will send you well on your way to a solid online brand that is consistent to where you want to be heading with your life.
Nixing The “Shiny Object Syndrome” Foolproof Formula:
Know What You Want: Honestly assessing where you are and where you want to be will provide a much smoother ride when mapping out the 1-2-3s of getting there. Ask yourself the important questions in regards to priorities, goals, and dreams. Get clear on your work’s message and seamlessly pull that through your online marketing.
Get Real: No need to swerve away from what you really want to join the rest of the herd. Be a pioneer, allowing the real you to shine through online and carve out a new category all your own, if need be.
Be Seen: You change, I change, we all change. That’s life. As you grow and expand, share yourself with your audience. Let them in on your process and allow them to know you intimately, creating a loyal following as a result.
Adjust Your Internal Pitching Fork: Even as you change, check-in with yourself on your ultimate goal and stay the course in getting there. Realize ahead of time that life will throw you curvballs, which may lead you astray. Come back as quickly as possible and get back on track.
Keep Your Eye On The Mark: There will always be another great idea, fabulous opportunity, once-in-a-lifetime offer. And then there will be another one. I guarantee it. Know what you really want and keep your eye on the ultimate prize.
Consistently put this formula into action and you will notice a wonderful occurrence begin to unfold… a sense of peace, ease, and satisfaction will seep its way into your life.
You will know who you are and what you are contributing in the world to others. You will be able to relax, knowing where you are headed and the legacy you are creating. You will be able to stand in that elevator we all hear about and not hiccup when someone asks you who you are and what you do.
With clarity and consistent daily action, success is sure to follow.

As a dating & romance coach I love love love teaching women about the art of attraction and seduction. Attracting and seducing your perfect client is actually very similar to dating, and ultimately more about you than them. If done with integrity you will become an irresistible powerhouse in your field. Using these seven tips will captivate a client base that not only gets you giddy but will keep paying you time and time again.
1. I like my clients like I like my men: loyal, faithful, & stable
Never underestimate the need to define your target market audience. I definitely suggest keeping an open mind to the different possibilities of your audience, but I would never omit these 3 super adjectives. I would also include ‘takes action’. Just like in dating, defining what you want will magically weed out many undesirable matches and create space for your ideal client to reach you.
2. Eye contact, smile, mimic body movement, & pace speech patterns
Subtle cues can create feelings of instant connection and understanding. Do note that I said subtle, not forced and certainly not obvious. Also using these techniques can help with any anxiety or nervousness you might feel during client interactions because it gives your body a task that makes you focus on another person. Case in point: I am a southern gal born and raised; when someone who wants me as a client speaks to me with an extreme rate of speed I instinctively become skeptical about our compatibility. If I am skeptical, then of course it will take them longer to establish the needed like, know, and trust factor.
3. Don’t be afraid to turn a client loose if it’s not a good fit
Sometimes no matter what you do a client will not be happy with the services you provide, just like sometimes chemistry never develops between two people. Especially in coaching scenarios, it is important to have some interaction whether it be phone, in person, and or email to gauge your client’s compatibility with you. Even more important is you developing the ability to kindly let your client know that he/she is not good fit. In dating, we will attract the same type of person repeatedly until we are consistent with saying no to the qualities we no longer want in our lives. Attracting your perfect client mates requires the same consistency.
4. Show your personality, especially in your “about page” just as you would in your online dating profile
Let people in a little on what lights you up as person. Tell us what is fun to know about you. Throw out the boring “about me page” and add some flavor. Be confident without cockiness. Be excited about who you are and what you offer. Being a real human is quite attractive & seductive.
5. Let your friends know that you are available for a set up
This may not be a conversation you want to have with a friend, but if you haven’t told your friends the gist of what you do and who you are interested in doing it for, you could be missing out on new business. Just like there are many great dates that start out with “I know somebody”, your friends can be a wonderful liaison for new client connections. Simply letting them know you are interested in taking on more clients will keep you on their mind when a potential match happens. Personally, my best clients almost always come from a friend connection.
6. Don’t pretend to be someone you are not. Be VERY clear on what you enjoy bringing to the table
There are many women these days who work very hard to be the woman who can do it all. Being able to do it all and really enjoy what you do are very different concepts. Doing what you hate is neither attractive nor seductive. If you keep providing something that you loathe to do, you will keep attracting more of the same activity. This will set you up for a boat full of resentment and disgust for your business. Bitter and resentful = major turn off & bad business mojo. You have 3 options when dealing with a piece of your business that you can’t stand: limit it in your offering, outsource it, or eliminate it.
7. The more fun you are having in your business, the more clients will be attracted to what you have to offer
Getting excited about what you provide, thinking outside the box and giving yourself creative license sets you up to have adoring clients. You will enrapture your clients. One of my favorite examples… check out Laura and Marie with Rich, Happy, Hot B-School. Simply irresistible;) So let loose a little. Having fun makes you unforgettable.

Looking for the Blueprint to Ranking in Google Places?
Trying to place highly on Google? Have a brick and mortar company? Then you know how important it is to be found. Everyone is driving the lanes of the world wide web before venturing down Main Street.
People take to the internet before they take to the interstate.
What does that mean for you? Have you been thinking about adding Google Places to your marketing strategy? Sure. Because you realize that knowing how to get your website to rank in Google – is knowing how to get your business in front of your consumers.
“No matter how big the sign is on the front of your building, if you’re not effective with Google Places, then you should expect the business to go to the one who is.”
What is Google Places?
Google Places is an integral part of Google and its search engine abilities. Look up a business or service on Google, say under “plumber Orlando Fl”, and Google will present you with a list. Anyone who has done a search on Google has seen one – it’s a list of websites Google believes best answer the question you are looking for. And – and this is the “Big And” – Google will call out, with its special up-side-down teardrop shaped marker, the brick and mortar businesses that are registered in Google Places before it calls out any business not registered. That’s what makes Google Places worth your time.
What does this all mean for your business?
Google Places gets your business to the top of searches with more ease than anything that has come before it. This means more traffic online and on foot will be coming to your door.
The question is: “How to use Google Places to rank high when someone’s Googling?”
Simple. Watch the excellent video “The Blueprint to Google Places” shared here. Or if you’d rather keep reading, then you need to look at the three main elements to coming up in Google Places’ ranking:
Citations
Keywords
And of course -
Google Places
Let’s start with citations.
What’s a citation? That would be your company’s big three:
Legal name
Legal address
Legal phone number
Citations are the starting point when you want to rank in Google Places.
You’ll want to get your company’s citations listed in as many major directories as possible. That’s a basic step one. Some of those directories are free and some aren’t. Just remember that registering with a popular and well visited site lets some of their Google influence rub off on you. It’s sort of like “having the right friends” or “being ‘in’ with the right people”. So get all three pieces of info added to directories like Angie’s List, Yelp, and even the online Yellow Pages. Simple and essential.
**Warning: do not make any mistakes when entering your information and always enter the same information. For instance, if you have two office phone numbers, be sure to use the same number for every directory you use.
Step two is learning about ranking on Google with Keywords.
Although this part may sound a little like arcane magic it’s not really that mysterious. A free keyword tool from can be found on Google’s Adwords. Guess what it’s called? The Google Adwords Keyword Tool. Even without an Adwords account you can use this tool to find which words and phrases people are typing in when you are the answer to their search. You can even find out the frequency a specific phrase, like “plumber Orlando fl” is searched.
The topic of proper keyword strategy is certainly packaged with a learning curve so be sure to look for a future “how to” blog and video about this project.
Want to use Google Places to its best advantage? That’s step three:
For this step the magic number is three again. Make sure you have:
10 photos
5 videos
1 completely filled out Google Places profile.
Wondering what kind of photos and videos to use? Don’t be too stressed. With most cameras today you can capture what you need fairly easily. Why not take a look at what other businesses are posting in Google Places? It’s an easy way to get some simple ideas.
Want a little “magic sauce” to successfully use Google Places to improve your Google ranking?
Final touches: Make sure you have absolutely no spelling or entry errors within your information. Also, don’t forget to activate your listing using the pin # on the postcard you will receive from Google.
Get reviews: Time to contact your family tree (family, friends, client, etc)! You need them to add an outstanding review in your Google Places listing. In addition, why not have them visit some of the citations you created so they can give you “5 stars” there, too. More reviews equals more opportunity!
**Warning: whether you have 10 or 100 people willing to do this for you – you’ll want to ask them to do it over time.
Google Places is the “place to be” on Google
Google Places is the place to build a presence if you want people to be present in your business. Use this blog as a check sheet or simply build your foundation on Google Places by watching the video, “The Blueprint to Google Places.” It’s not just accurate – it’s fun to watch.

Jill Shearer has spent the better part of 15 years making crazy-money for huge companies like Apple, Adobe and 3Com. Now, she is putting all that experience to good use teaching new and established entrepreneurs on how to make the most of their online and offline business. She has created SimplyLaunch to supply others with the tools they need to achieve the next level of success.
Lots of online business owners are doing great offering information and inspiration to their customers. But perhaps you’re hankerin’ to take it to the next level? Maybe you’re hungry for something more in your business? If so, consider strengthening your transmission – also known as upping your vibe – to your readers and customers.
Whoa, transmission?? Transmission of what? Are we getting all airy-fairy? What the heck does vibe have to do with business?
Only everything. The Internet is about connection. As we’ve become more plugged in, we’ve also gotten better at detecting bullshit and we’ve gotten hungrier for truth, authenticity, and real connection. It’s paradoxical: the more time we spend plugged in to the virtual world, the more we crave what’s real.
That’s where transmission comes in – transmission is, at its heart, about love. Something larger than gets communicated through you to your peeps. A higher vibe. A bigger energy. That transmission will nourish and energize you better than a double Americano, and help attract your best customers with more ease and profit.
Think about the people you are drawn to again and again – you read their blogs, watch their videos, hire them – is it purely for the information you receive or is there something else, a something you can’t quite put your finger on? That’s transmission.
Sounds good, yes? It is – it’s the best! But it’s not a tidy plug-and-play process. If you are still reading, you are ready for this level of teaching, and it requires courage, self-love, and humility.
Ready?
Ask yourself:
Where am I in deepest alignment with what I offer? In what part of my business do I feel the most “rightness?”
Where do I feel the least aligned, the least lit up? (This takes courage to ask!)
When do I feel more connected to myself and my customers? (Name some specific instances – small is beautiful.)
When do I experience love for my peeps? (Love is the heart of transmission.)
Where am I walking my talk? (Practicing what you preach, using what you teach, doing what’s hard or expensive to stay in alignment.)
Where am I not? (This one may take a coach or mastermind group to help you see.)
Time out: these questions are not an invitation to completely revamp your business, quit, or beat yourself up. Transmission of a higher vibe means you let being in business work you. You let it teach you about how you do you – and then you use that learning to be of greater, true service to the people you love – also known as your customers.
Transmission helps your people change at a deep level; it fortifies them in a lasting way. They are elevated by what they receive from you. The form of what you offer might not change, but the intention, the energy, does. Radically.
It’s using business as a spiritual practice. Pretty cool, huh?
Here are three additional ways to up your vibe and transmit the love:
Be a steward of your customer’s deeper learning, healing, and evolution. How can you serve that through the work you do – for instance, social media marketing or website design? You might not come up with a concrete answer but consider the question will increase the possibility for transmission to happen.
Turn your own deepest learning into content. Jen has written 6 books with almost a million copies in print doing just that. Share what moves and transforms you but only once you know the point, the takeaways of your learning. If you are still in the midst of it, take notes, let the learning work you, and when you have perspective – which can sometimes takes months or even years- then share.
Do your work wholeheartedly and sustainably. Turn on all your charm, brilliance, love, and expertise when you’re serving your peeps and be sure and give yourself an equal amount of recovery, play, and “filler-up” time. (Laura models this so well!)
Transmission isn’t about you – it’s a mysterious process where by something larger than you comes through you – but that larger something can’t get through if you are a dried-up freaked out mess. Build in what you need to replenish so that giving to your customers is like inhaling and exhaling – it’s a sustainable process of putting out and taking back in, never leaving you breathless or panting.
Bottom line: to evolve your business, you must up your vibe. The Internet offers a profound way for you to evolve, to become more authentic, loving and to truly serve – while taking great care of yourself. The more in alignment you are with your values, the more you walk your talk, and the higher your vision for what’s possible through your business, the clearer the transmission of energy will be.
