Your Backstage Pass to Twitter
An Impassioned Plea To Make Twitter The Focal Point Of Your Entire Life
Lets get real here – you don’t REALLY care about twitter.
OK maybe that’s a weird thing for someone who is supposed to be trying to “sell” you on twitter to say.
But the truth is, you’re not really here because you care about twitter itself. Twitter is just a means to an end.
At the end of the day you want what we all want: to grow your business.
And I know from experience that twitter (believe it or not!) can do just that. Not only can twitter do it, it’s actually the most powerful marketing tool available today.
Skeptical?
Hear me out.
You came to this page because you have some interest in using twitter, right? You keep hearing that every business should be on twitter, but you don’t quite get how it could work for you. Maybe you tried it out and nothing has happened, or maybe you’ve been working up your nerve to jump in, or maybe you’re trying to decide if it would be a waste of time.
Let me tell you a story – I met a woman the other day who told me something that I hear a lot: “I just don’t get how it could help my business to sit around telling everyone what I had for breakfast!”
This always makes me laugh, and it’s not untrue! People do sometimes talk about what they had for breakfast on twitter. People make all types of small talk on twitter such as:
“I’m looking for a virtual assistant, anyone know someone good?”
“We’re planning a vacation to Mexico, where’s the best place to go?”
“I am trying to figure out QuickBooks and I just can’t get it right!”
“Mmm this chicken parmesan is divine! Italian is my favorite.”
“Ugh we have had zero response so far on this direct mail campaign. Wish I knew what we were doing wrong.”
“Went and visited colleges this weekend – daughter loves Reed and Harvey Mudd. Anyone have experience with either?”
Yup, this is all “boring” small talk!
But if you were a virtual assistant, resort in Mexico, QuickBooks advisor, local Italian restaurant, direct response marketing consultant, or Reed college these tweets wouldn’t be so boring would they?
In fact, you could do a search for these types of messages (and even limit that search to your local area) to find people who are actively seeking out what you sell.
Hmmmm. This is getting interesting!
There’s another layer of small talk as well.
So in response to this woman, I asked her, “So you think small talk like what people had for breakfast is boring huh?”
“Yes” she said, “who cares about that!”
I got a sly smile on my face.
“Do you remember what we talked about before I told you what I did for a living?” I asked.
“Well . . . ” she muttered, trying to remember, “I think I asked you what part of town you live in. Then we talked about how my aunt used to live over there and how much she liked the area. Oh and I asked if you’d ever been to that Thai place that was her favorite.”
As I smiled at her she started to understand what I was getting at, and she interrupted herself before I even had to say a word -
“Wow, when you put it that way it sounds like really boring small talk huh? Kind of like talking about what you had for breakfast?” she laughed.
Small talk is part of how humans communicate with other humans. Yes, at first it feels odd when you’re doing it on the internet.
But when you truly understand that all you have to do to promote on twitter is chat with other real live people just like you, your whole mindset shifts about marketing online.
“Making small talk” on twitter is the most highly leveraged way to talk to thousands of people at once, AND to instantly jump in on conversations pertaining to your business. (By the way, “butting in” on these types of conversations isn’t considered weird on twitter, it’s expected!)
It’s Kind of Like Having Super-Sonic Hearing
Imagine if your little ears perked up everytime someone on the planet said “QuickBooks” or “scuba diving”, or whatever it is that your business does. Whenever someone in Aruba diving said “scuba diving” you heard it and picked up the phone and to offer them a discount on your latest diving accessories.
That’s what we’re doing on twitter!
And even better that’s what twitter was created for! The truth is even if you DID have supersonic hearing, if you actually picked up the phone that person would be completed freaked out right? In the real world it is slightly scary to have companies calling us with promotions after they hear our private conversations – but not on twitter! This is your unfair advantage.
And That’s Why So Many People Are Massively Screwing This Up
Yup, most people are totally screwing this twitter thing up. Was that straight up enough for ya?
Like I said, twitter is just talking to people. BUT twitter is also a fundamentally new and different space where new rules apply.
Is it OK to ask someone a question you’ve never spoken with before? Do you need to thank every follower? Do you need to follow back everyone who follows you? What is too much selling on twitter? What is not enough? Who should you follow? What is considered rude? What is considered normal? How much should you talk about your business? How much should you talk about your personal life? What is too personal? Why do people unfollow you? Why do people follow you? How do you get them to visit your website? How do you get them to actually BUY something?
The way most people figure out these questions is by spending six months immersed in twitter before they finally learn by trial and error what works or what doesn’t. You’re going to have to spend hours a day to do that, and you’ll embarrass yourself a LOT in the beginning! Perhaps you have already experienced this.
But once you know the “rules” of the game, AND the tested strategies that just plain work for selling and marketing on twitter, everything changes.
I’ll Say It – Twitter Is Cool!
Twitter is cool because it puts a global audience at your fingertips.
Twitter is cool because it’s my favorite price – FUH-REE!
Twitter is cool because it allows you to talk to ANYONE, even big names and celebrities instead of only those who have agreed to be “friends” like on facebook.
Twitter is cool because it can be automated and scheduled in advance.
Twitter is cool because “retweeting”, or repeating someone else’s message to your list is a built-in feature that spreads your marketing messages like wildfire.
Twitter is cool because you can share pictures and video.
Twitter is cool because it puts your “know like and trust” quotient on fast-forward.
Twitter is cool because tons of reporters and other media people are there, looking for experts and stories.
Twitter is cool because you can use it to fill webinars, calls, and online classes. (Or events, workshops, and offline classes.)
Twitter is cool because everyone who follows you has RAISED THEIR HAND to learn more about your business.
Twitter is cool because the frequency allows you to build strong relationships very quickly.
Twitter is cool because it has fine-tuned search features (that most people don’t know about) to hone in on just the tweets that are relevant to you.
Twitter is cool because you choose exactly who you want to follow, taking the spam out of sight and out of mind.
Twitter is cool because a full third of my website’s traffic (and resulting sales) come from twitter and you can do the same.
Twitter is cool because it makes it easy to stay “top of mind” for thousands of people at once with a few short messages.

OK, How much? (AKA Stop wasting your marketing money!)
There are many ways you can market your business online.
One of the most popular is “pay per click” or PPC – those ads that shows up on the sidebar of google.
The problem with this type of advertising is the minute you turn the money off, the traffic goes away as well. It’s there when you pay up, but completely gone when you don’t.
I don’t know about you, but I prefer methods that stick around! Especially when I’m on a budget, I want to make investments in my business that will last and keep on building and building.
When you learn twitter, there’s an investment up-front but after that all of your leads and traffic aren’t going to cost you a dime.
FREE LEADS. FREE TRAFFIC.
(OK, sorry about that, just had to shout for a minute because it’s a fact about twitter that most people completely take for granted!)
Any kind of paid online marketing is going to cost you at least around $500/month (that’s $6,000 each year) for the most MINIMUM level of results, and those results disappear the second you turn off the cash faucet!
To join me inside Your Backstage Pass to Twitter, however . .
is only one payment of $297. With nothing more to pay, ever.
PLUS – if it doesn’t work you don’t pay for it.
I don’t create this stuff for fun, yo! I create it so that YOU can leverage twitter to make money in your business.
If you don’t see more activity on your Twitter account as a result of what you learned from this class, just shoot us an email and we’ll cheerfully refund your investment. This policy is good for a full 30 days after your purchase to ensure that you have enough time to see results.
And if you just don’t have time to watch all the videos or put this into place right now? No problemo. The training is yours to access 24/7, as often as you like, for the lifetime of your business.
So, what’s your excuse now huh?
If it doesn’t work, you don’t pay for it!
One Last Thing . . .
Before we part, let’s have a little truth talk.
I have a feeling that I know where you’re at right now (because I’ve been there too). You KNOW that your business could be farther along than it is. You have a big vision, and you’re just not reaching enough people to bring that vision to life. Things are OK but you know it’s time to step it up.
Business is hard work. I’m not saying that twitter is going to solve every problem.
BUT – I do know this for sure: you can’t just keep doing more of the same and expect different results.
If you have a feeling that twitter could make a change for you, why not join me inside Your Backstage Pass to Twitter right now. Who knows? A year from now you could be in a totally different place. (It happened for me!) And I have to tell ya, I would LOVE to help be a part of what got you there.
So here’s to you and YOUR big success! I’ll see you inside Your Backstage Pass to Twitter!

“Thank you sooooo much for your Backstage Pass to Twitter program. I’ve been thinking about having a twitter account for a while, but didn’t really know what to do about it. Your program not only gave me confidence to just get in there and do it. I even started a twitter account for Ballet Scene Online Magazine @balletscene and people are following me and the magazine isn’t even up and running yet. That was the surprising thing. So I have potential clients before I have the product. I don’t spend much time twittering each day, as I use Timely.is (something I picked up from you as well), yet it is so much fun connecting to people on Twitter. It amazes me how many people are out there and you don’t need to know them from a bar of soap to say hi… just amazing!!! So thank you again for giving me the confidence to get out there and connect with the world.”

“I signed up for Backstage Pass to Twitter and took it very seriously. I started getting re-tweeted and followed. I felt like it was working, and it was. I started getting sales on my site from twitter. But what surprised me the most was how much fun it all was. I met so many cool people. I saw so many cool sites and blogs I didn’t know existed. I was turned on to books and videos that I read and loved. I made some new friends. Twitter turned out to be such a blessing for me. I am still on everyday and still tweeting and learning. I know that many people give up after the first few days, but Laura’s words kept ringing in my ears and I stayed on-I am so glad I did.”

“Backstage Pass to Twitter walked me through the Twitter process as a newbie to Tweeting and it’s been a slow process ~ I am still in love with Facebook social media ~ but I see the value of Twitter and Tweeting and this program has opened up my business and brand to more dialogue and conversations with people that I cannot reach on Facebook, as well as helped put me and my programs on the map. It’s opening me up to a new community and more trends and the Tweetdeck lesson in the Backstage Pass to Twitter has been super helpful. I’m still learning, but it’s much more comfortable and I attest my comfort to Laura Roeder’s instruction! Thank you!”

“I think you did an excellent job. You really broke everything down in detail. If anyone would ask me how to learn twitter I would say go to Laura. I went from 968 followers to almost 3000 in 2 weeks. You are amazing!”

“When I took Laura’s 4 week webinar course, “Your Backstage Pass to Twitter” I was a complete Twitter rookie. I didn’t know a hash tag from an @ message. The course was amazingly content-rich, covering everything from the basics to tips, techniques, and etiquette known only by the most experienced tweeters. And Laura delivered the course in such an engaging and effective way, it was easy to learn with her. As a professional trainer myself, I can tell you that it’s very hard to get significant information delivered in an expert manner. Laura succeeded in doing both. And have I seen results! After only a few weeks spending maybe 30 minutes a day, I have almost 100 followers, have connected with someone who wants me to write for her magazine, and have had countless people visit my blog and tell me that they’ve passed it on.
Here’s a really cool thing: today a pretty big celebrity started following me. I’m thinking she will be a fantastic person to help promote my relationship coaching services and products! Now that I’ve taken Laura’s course, I know exactly how to proceed in developing a relationship with her, which I’m confident will lead to a valuable business affiliation.
Like it or not, every person and every business needs to be communicating on Twitter. You better learn it, and I can’t think of a better tweacher than @lkr.”

“I am working through your course on using Twitter. It is saving me months of trial and error. I’m sure I would have given up without it. Thank you!”

“When we spoke before the Backstage Pass program, you were unsure how Twitter would work for me, a bricks and mortar business…a medical practice no less! Well Twitter continues to open doors for me. I’ve established professional relationships that have led to patient referrals. I have been invited to join national healthcare blogs because of the exposure. I have had patients communicate through Twitter with me (not HIPPA compliant, but they initiated!). It has increased the exposure of my blog and online articles has dramatically increased traffic to my website. I also received a request from a PR firm associated with one of my Twitter contacts to write an article for submission to a national magazine. Not bad for uncertainty!”
